Sporting Clays is America's newest shooting passion.  Claythorne's five unique courses are an excellent way to improve your wing shooting skills.  We believe you will find that our courses are among the most beautiful and exciting in the nation!   Claythorne Lodge is a member of the National Sporting Clays Association and has hosted a number of prestigious NSCA sanctioned shoots including such tournaments as the Kansas State Shoot, the Zone 5 Championship, National FITASC, the U.S. Open and the FITASC Open tournaments.  On-site shooting instruction is available by appointment.

Skeet, Trap, and NSCA 5-Stand  [Back]

Claythorne's skeet, trap and 5-stand fields offer shooters a variety of practice and tournament venues.

Wobble Trap  [Back]

Our Beomat wobble trap offers the opportunity for a shooter to "warm up" prior to hunting or sporting clays.  It is also a good place to learn gun safety and proper shooting techniques for the shotgun sports.

Fishing  [Back]

We are located in the heart of the best fishing area in the Midwest.  The strip-pits in our part of Southeast Kansas provide a venue that includes largemouth bass, crappie, trout and catfishing.

Hunting  [Back]

We offer both Upland and Continental Style hunting with 1/2 or full-day Quail and pheasant hunts available.  Guided and unguided hunts are available with and without breakfast or lunch.  Our hunts are customized to your desires.  We provide experienced, polite and professional personnel as guides for our guided hunts.  Our goal is to provide a safe, exciting and relaxed hunting atmosphere.  Our guided hunts are designed to make your experience at Claythorne an enjoyable and memorable experience!  We have a kennel of excellent field dogs, however, if you are a dog owner and wish to do so, you can use your own dog!

Hunting dates run from mid-September through March each year.  A Kansas hunting license or a Kansas preserve license is required and can be purchased at our office.  The State of Kansas requires all persons born after July 1, 1957 to have a Hunter Safety Card.

Pro Shop  [Back]

Our Pro Shop has all required outdoor gear and accessories required for either target shooting or hunting including shirts, hats, pant, vests, shooting-bags and ammunition.  We also have a good assortment of wildlife art and framed antique prints.

Dining and Accommodations  [Back]

The main Lodge has three guest-rooms elegantly furnished with antiques and designer prints.  We are open for normal business Wednesday through Sunday with business hours from 9:00 a.m. until sundown.  A separate bunk house features three modern and comfortable guest rooms next to the main Lodge.  Claythorne is a popular dining spot in the SE Kansas area; renowned for its gourmet entrees, barbecue, rib eyes, filets, ribs and brisket!

Membership  [Back]

Private and corporate memberships are available and provide ample opportunity to combine business and pleasure.  Formal accommodations are available in the lodge for corporate entertainment, board meetings, seminars and dining.  Our business guests often combine business with a relaxing round of 5-stand, skeet, trap, wobble or sporting clays on one of our five beautiful courses.  During the "season", clients can be treated a guided upland bird hunt or European style pheasant shoot.  For more information, please contact Sam or Frieda Lancaster.
